Trump Cabinet Set to Break 'No' Vote Record
By Darlene Powers Feb 09, 2017
President Donald Trump's Cabinet picks have encountered their fair share of criticism from the public - and it looks like things haven't gotten easier for the nominees now that they're facing Senate confirmation.
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is reportedly anxious about "five moderate Democrats representing states that President Trump won who are likely to face the most hard reelection fights next year".
Experts like Princeton University statistician Sam Wang say that it "would take an extreme event" for Democrats to win back the House of Representatives and the Senate, even though they only have a couple fewer seats in the Senate than their conservative counterparts, reports Newsmax.
So far, he said, Connecticut Republicans largely have remained silent on Trump, including politicians considering runs for statewide office in 2018.
"Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama were almost finished; and even George H.W. Bush had nine of his Cabinet secretaries in place despite opposition from a Democratic Senate".
This comes a day after Democrats held 24 hours of continuous debate over the controversial nomination of Betsy DeVos, who was later confirmed as US secretary of Education. The result is that on both ends of the spectrum, and with conflicting intent, Israel's star is being hitched to Trump's ascendant wagon.
Since Election Day, Philadelphia physician Rhea Powell has marched with other women in Washington, protested in her home town against the potential repeal of Obama's health care law and joined in airport demonstrations against Trump's immigration restrictions.
During Barack Obama's Presidency, Republicans were the party of "no". But rising polarization, along with a handful of divisive nominees, has led to large blocs of opposing senators casting nay votes on Cabinet nominations starting in the early 2000s. Republicans managed to admit that much to themselves after their defeat in the 2012 presidential election, which allowed them to create a forward-looking plan for eventual victory.

An NFL ad during the second half will also focus on the game's power to unite people no matter their background. Here's another big critique for putting USA ads in the game - it's not like they are hidden on the internet.
Trump, however, has picked several people who have little or no experience in government.
Democrats intend to drag out the process as much as possible using all the time they can under the Senate's arcane rules.
"We're going to have long debates on Sessions, and we're going to have debates on [health and human services nominee Tom] Price".
Like DeVos, Sessions cleared a Senate panel last week, but he had to keep his seat to cast a key vote for DeVos. Democratic senators' switchboards lit up with demands that they stop voting for Trump's nominees. Efforts to fill people in on the most powerful Democrat on Capitol Hill?
There have been a total of 111 no votes in the five nominees who have come up for a full Senate vote so far - compared with only 18 in the entirety of Mr Clinton's presidency. Perhaps some will. However, we won't see any new chapters written by the authors' friends in the Democratic Party for their conduct during the past eight years.
Republican tactics deployed to delay President Obama's agenda have been taken up by Democrats to thwart the new administration, threatening gridlock.
On Monday, Trump ignored a senior aide's admission she had erred in accusing reporters of ignoring a non-existent "massacre" in Bowling Green, Ky., and instead doubled-down with a startling claim to a military audience that the media covered up terrorists attacks, offering no examples.
