Falcons 'ran out of gas' in painful Super Bowl loss, says coach
By Kelly Sanders Feb 06, 2017
"I hate making predictions". Brady's throw bounced off Alford's hands and landed in a scrum of three Falcons players and Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, who somehow came up with the ball inches from the turf.
National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell speaks to Tom Brady of the New England Patriots after defeating the Atlanta Falcons during Super Bowl 51 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Feb. 5, 2017.
"I don't know how the hell he caught it". "I didn't know if a piece of the ball was touching [the ground]".
The Patriots hauled their way back into the contest, off the back of a reborn Brady, who was the Most Valuable Player of the match after his side ended up eventual 34-28 overtime winners. Oh, and by the time the next presidential election rolls around, he believes Chicago fans might see their own team back in the Super Bowl.
An incomplete pass later, the Falcons punted - after running only 18 seconds off the clock on three plays. "There's nothing you can really say - tough loss". Can the Falcons win the game? That lead was doubled when Ryan threw his first touchdown pass of the game, to Austin Hooper as the Falcons ran into a 14-0 lead.
Studying Super Bowl Ads
There's also a little local flair in the commercials this year, University of Rochester Medical Center will also have a local ad. Not only was it an attention-getting ad, it was a great story that highlighted the two teams actually playing in the game.
New England clearly benefited from atrocious play-calling by Atlanta offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. New England led the league by allowing just 15.6 points per game while Atlanta's group struggles. We have a lot of young talent on both sides of the ball. Just like they did in Houston.
"I think for sure we ran out of gas some", Quinn said. The Patriots will work to disguise their coverages, shifting their linebackers and safeties, and cause confusion by showing blitz and backing off from one area only to bring the heat from another direction. Suspect play-calling by Josh McDaniels cost them some scoring opportunities. Since that appearance, the Patriots just happen to have played in six - four of which they've won. New England's entire season was based on a comeback.
Atlanta receiver Julio Jones is a physical specimen that gives Ryan as good a target as any quarterback could hope for. That play Atlanta at New England's 22-yard line with under five minutes left. At this point, the Falcons would have had to kick a 53-yard field goal to go up 11. Instead, the Falcons collapsed.
Then, the Patriots launched their comeback. But Atlanta still had a firm grip on the game until their ensuing possession.
"Down 25 points", Brady told reporters, "it's hard to imagine us winning". If LeGarrette Blount gets one of those touchdowns or two of those passes go to Danny Amendola, then we're not having this conversation. "We're hurting so bad right now".
