Japan to extend unilateral sanctions against North Korea

South Korea and the USA have said the sole objective of the advanced system is to defend against missile launches from North Korea.
The US and its regional allies, South Korea and Japan, have been holding regular joint military exercises on the Korean Peninsula to counter perceived threats from the North. CNN reported that on March 6, three of North Korea's four immediate-range missiles that had been fired earlier that day landed less than 200 miles off of the Japanese coast.
"The market is only starting to factor in recent developments regarding North Korea, and it now wants to figure out the geopolitical implications of the U.S".
The Pentagon last April told Congress that North Korea continues to develop a mobile intercontinental ballistic missile that "would likely be capable of reaching much of the continental United States".
North Korea carried out two nuclear tests previous year.
Soon after, Mr Trump told the Japanese government that "all options were on the table" in dealing with North Korea. "And at some point, probably in the next few short years, they will have a deliverable nuclear weapon", said Hill.
"I've joked before that they don't mind being hated but they definitely hate to be ignored", Cossa said.

North Korea should realize that it will find itself facing further troubles if it sticks to staging military provocations and developing nuclear and missile programs, Lee said.
Trump has spoken repeatedly of the need to act more decisively against Pyongyang and demanded that Beijing puts more pressure on its reclusive neighbour. Pyongyang's foreign ministry said it is ready to blame the United States for war, regardless of which side initiates a "preemptive strike", according to KCNA. To avoid a military conflict, China and the United States will need to agree on a joint approach and move toward reviving the Six-Party Talks with North Korea. The latest punitive measures came in late February after the assassination of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
North Korea and South Korea will play each other on Friday afternoon and the game is widely expected to decide the group's top position. North Korea sees the drills as an invasion rehearsal.
South Korean officials said McMaster yesterday morning spoke with South Korean National Security Council Chief Kim Kwan-jin to discuss the North's missile launch and the Trump-Xi summit.
The Republic of Korea Armed Forces now operate two variants of the Hyunmoo missile, the Hyunmoo 2A and 2B ballistic missiles, both surface-to-surface missiles with an estimated maximum range of 300 kilometers and 500 kilometers (310 miles) respectively.
