Warren calls for probe into Trump White House Russia ties
By Darlene Powers Feb 16, 2017
Flynn was an early Trump supporter who shared his expertise in intelligence and foreign affairs to the campaign.
In explaining Flynn's departure, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said on Tuesday that Trump "was very concerned that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others".
The insinuations about Trump and Russian Federation look set to linger, robbing the new administration of time, resources and political capital to forge ahead with policy priorities.
Mr Flynn had only been in the position for three weeks.
Trump was frustrated after Flynn failed to adequately brief him on an executive action that reformed the National Security Council that also placed chief strategist Steve Bannon on the powerful Principals Committee. "But they recognize that they campaign with one assessment of reality, and now have to take a look at the rest of the information that's only available once they take office".
Michael Flynn's resignation is not only fully justified but also long overdue. This comes amid reports that federal immigration agents arrested more than 600 people in at least 11 states last week, 160 of them in Southern California. I do not hear any voices on the Capitol Hill saying 'let's give Russian Federation a chance, ' 'let's give a restart a chance.' There is such a gap mentality in America right now when it comes to American politics, it is hard to accomplish anything.
"I think it's symbolic of somebody with a distinguished military career making a bad mistake,"Cornyn said".
"I don't know about that".
On Friday Flynn's top deputy, Robin Townley, was sacked from National Security Council after being denied security access by the Central Intelligence Agency.
Flynn has been replaced by Lt General (rtd) Joseph Keith Kellogg as acting National Security Advisor, the White House announced.

Gardner, in an interview, didn't go as far as Bennet and said he wants the Federal Bureau of Investigation - which reportedly interviewed Flynn - to finish its work, or brief lawmakers, before Congress launches something new. Flynn has since told the White House that sanctions may have come up.
It's illegal for a private citizen to engage in foreign policy.
On Jan. 15, Vice President Mike Pence spoke on CBS's "Face the Nation" about the Trump's campaign's interaction with Russia, calling any reports that someone tied to the campaign had spoken with Russian officials "bizarre rumors".
If history is any guide, the President's repeated attacks on leaky intelligence officers may backfire by potentially resulting in more damaging leaks. But investigations are ongoing. "I say it's better to get along with Russian Federation than not, and if Russian Federation helps us in the fight against ISIS - which is a major fight, and Islamic terrorism all over the world - that's a good thing", Trump said. Once again, US President Donald Trump has made history.
Trump admonished the latest reports as "", taking to Twitter to deem the Russian connection as "nonsense".
Ahead of the January 20 inauguration, Mr Pence and other officials insisted publicly that Mr Flynn had not discussed sanctions in his talks with the Russian ambassador. But the real question is the age-old puzzle about corruption in the White House: "What did the president know and when did he know it?".
Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway also tried to distance the administration from Flynn on Tuesday morning, saying on TODAY that he was at fault after providing incomplete information and not being able to recall what occurred on his phone calls. More recently, Trump has pledged support for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Trump has suggested that perhaps North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was outdated.
Still, Mattis said he wasn't concerned about differing opinions within the new administration.
So just how big is Trump's Russian Federation problem? Both houses of Congress are conducting investigations, as is the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
A Super Bowl for the ages
Did the Patriots win or the Falcons lose Super Bowl 51? Even Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was casual about Brady's presence. After a decade-long drought, the Patriots brought another title back to Boston in 2015, and yet another here in 2017.
