Zack Greinke Signing Deal With Arizona Diamondbacks, Reports Say

The D-Backs signed a new and very lucrative television contract not too long ago, which surely helped land Greinke.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because there hadn't been an official announcement. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported the team is still interested in Leake, despite their suddenly revamped rotation. confirmed that Geinke signed a six-year deal worth more than $200 million with the Diamondbacks. Price joined the Boston Red Sox for $217 million over seven years. Does it mean that the Winter Meetings next week in Nashville are going to be without drama?

The actual value of the contract will be a bit less because of deferred money. Even though the Dodgers couldn't get Greinke, if they can sign Cueto, Kazmir, or Samardzija that would be a pretty good consolation prize.

Greinke agreed to a six-year deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

$34.3 million a year for six years for a 32-year-old pitcher. He had earned $64 million over those three years.

Since Greinke remains in the National League, the Mets could see him once or twice during the regular season in the coming years. "We are now hard at work on our alternatives". It wasn't until Friday afternoon that we learned the D-Backs were pursuing the right-hander, and even then it was unclear if they were willing to make a competitive offer, or just trying to drive up the price.

Javier Hernandez reveals conversation with Louis van Gaal prompted Manchester United exit
It was one of the best experiences of my life. "He opened the doors to Europe for me and I also won two league titles under him". Hernandez scored 59 goals in 157 games in all competitions for United during a five-year career.

The Diamondbacks tried this season to clear salary. He has spent much of his time trying to rid the major league roster of the previous regime's mistakes, and restocking a barren farm system.

On Friday night, they did a really big thing. Diamondbacks starters threw the second-fewest innings in the league. His 1.66 ERA was the lowest since Greg Maddux in 1995. The club believes in Robbie Ray (3.52 ERA in 127 2/3 innings), but it needed an alpha male. Greinke's Dodgers teammate Clayton Kershaw finished third.

For most of free agency, it seemed like the Greinke sweepstakes was between the Dodgers and Giants. He was 51-15 in three years with the Dodgers.

Someone is likely to get seriously overpaid, with the Dodgers unable to let any more quality pitching slip through their mittens.

The team's No. 2 pitcher is now the injury-prone Brett Anderson, who made a career-high 31 starts last season.

But if Los Angeles misses out on the playoffs in 2016, they'll enter the season with a new manager in Dave Roberts and without hitting coach Mark McGwire, who is joining the Padres coaching staff next season, Kershaw will be 29 in 2017 and he will be in his 10 season.

But the reality is, the Giants have Madison Bumgarner to front their rotation (an excellent spot in which to be) and Chris Heston as a promising 28-year-old behind him.
