Scott Stapp of Creed, the Band, Hilariously Reviews Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Creed,’ the Movie

On Wednesday, the seventh entrant in the film franchise-Creed, the story of Apollo Creed's son-will open in theaters, reminding the world yet again that Rocky Balboa is no longer an underdog. "So it's always a pleasure for me to tell stories that give them that focus and, through that focus, highlight things that you might not have seen about the main character".

Ex-Creed frontman Scott Stapp has given his verdict on the forthcoming new , which is aptly titled Creed. It's a sequel; it's a spinoff; it's a reboot. Coogler directs the Oscar-nominated actor to one of the most affecting performances of his career. Find out in this finely tuned list that didn't require no eggs at four in the morning or trips to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Because sometimes, a turtle can help you with your sparring more than some lout in-law ever could.

Rocky Balboa has been holding up in a quiet life, still managing the restaurant named after the love of his life "Adrian's" and now visits the Pennino siblings at the cemetery.

For die-hard movie fans, "Creed" is full of payoffs (and training montages). They provide the ideal melding of music (a combination of hip-hop bravado and swelling movie orchestration), rejuvenating imagery of an impeccably sculpted body at work, and no shortage of emotional investment, thanks to the truly galvanizing filial dynamic between Stallone and Jordan. It also succeeds at the smart self-awareness that "Jurassic World" attempted this past summer.

Before you write off Creed at just another attempt for Sylvester Stallone to cash in on the aging franchise, you might just be right-but early reviews are indicating that it could be the best in the series.

The former champ sees the same strength and determination in Apollo's son and agrees to train him. Adonis lives a pampered Los Angeles lifestyle and is about to get a big promotion, but he has the instinct to fight - which, in the end, is what wins out.

The 2006 film returned the series to the gritty roots that made the original 1976 film and its 1979 sequel so good. Yet it's a paradise of references. As Coogler and Covington took the light approach to plot, much of the film is carried by both Jordan and Stallone; a true actor's film, rather than just another movie.

Of course, no one wanted him, but he persisted and the picture went on to become a classic.

More of The Force Awakens Revealed in New Star Wars Commercial
The company said the website was a collaboration between Google , Lucasfilms and Disney , according to CCM . Star Wars The Force Awakens is scheduled to premiere on December18, and director J.J.

Where Creed TKOs most other sports dramas, though, is in Coogler's direction, Maryse Alberti's cinematography (she also did The Wrestler), and the editing ofClaudia Castello and Michael P. Shawver.

In fact, he has the confidence of a pro. Scenes shot at Max's Steaks, Johnny Brenda's and the Electric Factory add texture, as does a simultaneously amusing and stirring sequence featuring several of North Philly's infamous dirt bike riders popping wheelies alongside Donny as he jogs - clad in a more stylish version of Rocky's sweats - through the streets. If this is a re-launch of an Adonis Creed-led franchise (and I believe it will be), then Coogler has flawlessly given it a voice.

"Creed" grapples with its legacy and predecessors in such a fascinating way.

Stallone's physical performance is different and perhaps more challenging than any of the six other "Rocky" movies.

"The story of that first fight in Philadelphia, which is so important to us, is the idea that Adonis has finally got what he wants", said Coogler, a receiver at Sacramento State before attending film school at the University of Southern California. The references aren't just there for cheap nostalgia; they show how "Rocky" has become part of the cultural consciousness.

Stallone gives a heartfelt and passionate performance as a man trying to make the best of his circumstances. I was intrigued to see Coogler reuniting so quickly with his Fruitvale Station star, the promising Michael B. Jordan, but it was hard not to feel as though they both deserved better material.
