Pinellas County: Recycle That Tree!

Ornaments, lights, tinsel and tree stands should be removed; tree bags are not allowed.

Collection Station: Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 3 p.m.

There is a $5 tree recycling fee from Mondays to Fridays. Composting items is free for Mesa County residents.

In some cities and townships, trees will be picked up with your curbside garbage collection. The program has recycled an estimated 6 million Christmas trees.

When it does, Pinellas County and several cities are encouraging residents to recycle their Christmas trees this holiday season.

A day after presents were opened under evergreen needles, Columbia County residents began recycling Christmas trees at the "Bring One for the Chipper" event at Home Depot. There aren't many that go unsold, but the few that do continue as giving trees.

For the past few weeks, many of you have had a Christmas tree up, and that dry tree could be putting you in danger.

In Prince George's County, the Department of the Environment offers free Christmas tree recycling with curbside collection now through February 1.

Dry Christmas trees can quickly become a fire hazard.

Gulfport: Place tree at curb or alley for regularly scheduled Wednesday yard waste pick-up. Drop off runs through January 14 at the Waste Reduction Center. Each tree placed after January 13 will replace one bag of trash in the normal six-bag limit. Turn right onto Flour Mill Road, and the Yard Waste Transfer Facility will be on your right.
