New Mexico unemployment rate remains at 6.7 percent

Florida's unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 percent in April, the lowest since September 2007, while the Orlando area continues to lead the state in job creation, according to numbers released Friday.

Like the state as a whole, the Lincoln area had more jobs in April than in March or in April 2016.

Escambia County's seasonably adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 4.3 percent in March to 3.9 percent in April.

The rate, which fell from 4.2 percent in March, is the lowest since December 2006, according to EDD data.

Employment Security paid unemployment insurance benefits to 60,386 people in April. "So there is still some room for us to reduce the unemployment rate while growing the labor force".

News reports over the last few weeks suggest that the Central government may finally be starting to think seriously about jobs. The labor force participation rate also increased to 68.8 percent, up 0.2 percentage points.
