Vladimir Putin President urges 'restoring dialogue' between Russia, US intel
By Darlene Powers Feb 18, 2017
Instead of a soft approach to dealing with Russian Federation, we must clearly show that Putin's aggressive behavior in the region will not be tolerated. Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov following his first meeting with USA secretary of state Rex Tillerson on 16 February says the subject of sanctions did not come. Democrats and some Republicans have called for a thorough investigation into all communication between Trump's team and Russian Federation, before and after he was sworn in.
In Brussels, James Mattis, the USA defence secretary, ruled out military collaboration between Washington and Moscow.
Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was forced to resign late Monday over conversations he had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak about USA sanctions on the same December day that President Obama imposed sanctions on Russia and expelled 35 Russian diplomats over alleged Russian interference in the election to help Trump.
Moscow had expected Mr Trump's arrival in the White House to usher in a thaw in relations that reached a new post-cold war low under President Barack Obama.
President Donald Trump's seeming infatuation with Vladimir Putin and Russian Federation is no longer just a recurring joke on Saturday Night Live.
When asked if he thought Russian President Vladimir Putin was testing him with the recent moves, Trump said "No, I don't think so".
"If we have a good relationship with Russian Federation - believe me that's a good thing". On Tuesday, surfaced that Russia had violated an arms control treaty, and the same day, The New York Times published a piece alleging contact between members of Mr. Trump's election campaign and Russian intelligence officials.
Oil steady but record U.S. stocks weigh on sentiment
Talks of possibly extending the supply cut time frame come at time when the USA production is showing a strong revival. Some traders said upcoming oil field maintenance across the Middle East might help the group achieve production cuts.
U.S. President Donald Trump holds a news conference at the White House in Washington, U.S., February 16, 2017. "I hope their work be as successful as in your case, and people will feel that in the immediate future", he noted.
"The story is not true", .
In a colourful press conference yesterday, the President spoke about the Moscow spook boat which has been spotted off the coast of DE and New England.
Trump was on Fox News being interviewed by TV talk show host Bill O'Reilly when the conversation turned to the US president's admiration for the Russian strongman.
He sighed when asked a question by a BBC reporter about his Muslim Ban and then went on a weird rant about how his press conference will be reported as a freakish rant by a media who are obsessed with "very fake news". But since then, Moscow has been scaling back expectations.
"But attempts to build a dialogue from a position of strength in relation to Russian Federation have no prospects". He has suggested he would be more lenient towards the country in terms of sanctions and has openly said that he believes in "an easing of tensions, and improved relations with Russia".
But he said the United States commitment to mutual defence "remains rock solid". Roy Blunt said the issue would need to be looked at "exhaustively".
