Martin Luther King Jr. Day March at Tennessee State University
By Darlene Powers Jan 18, 2017
Bennett asked the audience to continue King's work towards equality and unity between all people and think about what the day is about: everyone working and living together to become the country that King thought it would become.
Martin Luther King III said he had an "extraordinarily constructive conversation" with the president-elect about a "broken voting system", and that Trump listened to his idea of providing free voter identification cards to all Americans.
You can thank Coretta Scott King for a lot - certainly for keeping her husband's legacy alive.
While they spoke about King's teachings, they also focused on what needs to be done to keep the Civil Rights Movement going.
In 1983, legislation was signed to officially designate Martin Luther King Jr.
Monday is a public holiday in the United States to celebrate Martin Luther King.
"I've been to marches before, but the San Antonio march is way different", Erica Finney, an Amarillo resident said. "We're creating mini-libraries for unconventional places like barber shops, nail salons, laundromats, where kids go with their parents", he said.
Murray, Kerber top seeds at Australian Open
Murray is ranked number one in the world, but most major bookies have both he and Djokovic equal favourite for the title. That's an acknowledgement that for all the glory of the past 11 months, a win in Australia is still his white whale.
"On this holiday, we commemorate the universal, unconditional love, forgiveness and nonviolence that empowered his revolutionary spirit", she said.
"And give them some guidance and some of our experiences so they'll know exactly what it is that we're trying to achieve", says Smith.
But he says, there is so much more throughout the entire Greater Philadelphia region.
Eight people between the ages of 11 and 30 were shot, two of whom were grazed and treated at the scene. "It's very important to a large group of our students that we support various racial and different issues, so things can hopefully have some change for our future", Leslie Kehl with the YMCA said.
A name that he hopes will make the civil rights trailblazers proud.
American Thinker asked King, a pro-life activist, if she thought Trump would take pro-life actions as president.
