The Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds Documentary Trailer is So Sad

"Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds" is on HBO Jan. 7 at 8 p.m.

Fisher, most famous for her role as Princess Leia and later General Organa in the "Star Wars" franchise, passed away on December 27, four days after going into cardiac arrest on an airplane. But it happened, and HBO's documentary Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds will endure as proof that we got to witness it. And a new trailer for the documentary, premiering this Saturday, brings that out in particular.

Alexis Bloom, on the pair's bond: "I mean, the first time we filmed Carrie and Debbie together, that was the storyline, really".

"[Bloom and I] fell in love with their relationship, Carrie and Debbie and the mother-daughter relationship and actually the whole family dynamic", he said. Reynolds desperately wanted Fisher to pursue singing and develop a nightclub act, but Fisher was already following her own muse.
