Sa'Fyre Terry receives thousands of Christmas cards

Sa'Fyre told her aunt all she wanted for Christmas was enough Christmas cards to fill her small Christmas card tree (about 100 cards would have sufficed).

A updated by her family provides updates on her progress.

Her father was killed in the blaze, as were her younger sister and two younger brothers.

Although she survived, she was burned on more than 75 percent of her body.

"With all the news stations broadcasting it, I just never knew the impact of what viral meant", said Sa'fyre's uncle, Michael Dolder.

Over 195,000 cards have been delivered to her P.O. Box in NY in just one day.

On Monday, WNYT reports that Safyre was treated with one more well-deserved holiday surprise, courtesy of a local charity and a big-hearted little boy.

"Well, they dropped off 185,000 yesterday", Dolder said Tuesday.

The young girl "can't believe it", says her aunt. "Some of the responses and the cards have been so touching". "When our first Christmas card came in, it was like you handed this girl the world".

"'Wow' is the general reaction in my family", says Safyre's aunt and guardian, Liz Dolder. "I live in Hong Kong".

Family friend Bill Ryan has been helping to open the letters. The SJD students prepared 96 cards for Safyre.

"There's a lot of cards".

"To hear a number is one thing, but you really need to see how many cards there are to understand".
