Jets look as inept as advertised in season-opening thud

Tyrod Taylor passed for 224 yards and two touchdowns as the Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets 21-12 on Sunday at New Era Field.

The reality is that the Bills probably are going nowhere this season, as new coach Sean McDermott and new general manager Brandon Beane perform an extreme makeover.

Sunday's triumph featured standout players and left in its aftermath overarching themes.

"The workload, whatever it takes to win the game", McDermott said. Three things stand out. What was once a bitter, nasty AFC East matchup has turned into a game played for the future. "Credit to them. They made plays and we just didn't make enough". While that certainly seemed hyperbolic, McCoy did see plenty of action on Sunday. With Bilal Powell and Matt Forte both ineffective, the Jets were forced to center their offense around McCown, who attempted 39 passes. The Bills kicked off the fourth quarter by continuing to add to their lead.

Buffalo would reopen a more comfortable lead when Taylor hit Andre Holmes for another short, one-yard touchdown. They're going to make Taylor and his collection of new receivers beat them with their mediocre passing game. It was the 11th time McCoy surpassed 100 yards in 28 games with the Bills.

Shady shines: Running, catching, avoiding injury. On their following drive, the Bills picked up over 55-yards on two plays back to back.

And these careers now, Ari, are lasting longer and longer. "Talk about a comeback, honestly I don't even know what to say". Stephens then took a commanding lead in the second set as she cruised to her first Grand Slam title in dominant fashion .

Josh McCown will be the 22nd different opening-day starting quarterback in Jets history. And he did so against a Jets defense that definitely was game-planning against him with eight men in the box.

White and Gaines also put together impressive performances in their respective Bills debuts. With questions at the quarterback and wide receiver position, McCoy is primed to have another monster year running behind an offensive line that specializes in moving the defenders off the line.

Buffalo dealt with myriad issues defending the run in 2016.

The pass defense gave up too many plays through the air. Jets came up with interception. NY had only 38 rushing yards on 15 attempts.

The Jets got off to a slow start and only had possession for just over four minutes of the first quarter. The Jets are one bad football team that might not win a game all season.
