New Fitbit Products Will Connect Every Workout

The Ionic features a battery life of four days or more, automatic activity and sleep tracking, and cross-platform compatibility. Currently, the fitness tracker is listed on the company's official website for pre-orders, while the shipment services for the Fitbit Ionic smartwatch will start worldwide beginning October 2017 via various North American retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Kohl's, Macy's, REI, Target and Verizon.

Finally, Fitbit has unveiled its new Fitbit Aria 2 Wi-Fi Smart Scale, which can be set up through a smartphone's Bluetooth connection, helping users understand and track their body composition - including weight, fat, body fat percentage, lean mass and BMI. New sensor technology is also featured called the "SpO2" sensor that estimates oxygen levels in the blood.

That said, the media release's sub-heading that the move will give Fitbit Ionic device owners "the choice and peace of mind to make secure tap-and-go payments" is more realistic. The package will also include classic rubber band strap, sport strap, and stylish leather strap. Apart from the smart new features, the Ionic will be able to do all the tasks that can be done with the Fitbit Blaze. Fitbit Pay will work with American Express cards and select Visa and Mastercards in the USA and Canada from supported banks. The unibody watchcase manufactured using the nano-molding technology also acts as the Bluetooth and Global Positioning System antenna. The payment functionality will be initially supported in the United States with participating issuer banks, and will expand to other markets across the globe soon after. Fitbit app's software developer kit enables developers to produce apps for enterprise health companies with Fitbit devices and by providing access to its sensors to build customized wellness programs for their customers.

The buds are sweat-proof and water resistant so will survive the most robust of workouts, come rain or shine. According to Fitbit, the new headphones charge in approximately 15 minutes. Flyer is compatible with Siri, Cortana and Google Assistant, which means you can use simple voice commands.

Visually the Fitbit Ionic isn't terribly attractive. Microsoft and Fitbit have been working closely together to make sure pairing, syncing, and notifications work going forward, and progress is being made.
