Free family activities and a live concert featuring the Mike Veal Band will be held in the Thomasville Park and Amphitheater at 131 South Stevens St. The cost is $5 per person.

Before the parade, people can participate in the Warrensburg Parks and Recreation's Freedom Fest 5K at 8 a.m. starting at the train depot. If you're feeling extra patriotic, enjoy a Main Street parade and more at City Hall starting at 8:30 am. All events are sponsored by the Andover Firefighters Relief Association; members will be sporting aprons and carrying spatulas instead of firemen's gear at the festivities.

Firework shows begin in the evenings but several cities have events during the day.

The fireworks, presented by the Long Island-based Grucci family, are part of an unforgettable night in Eisenhower Park, which kicks off with a performance by The Steam Punk Pirates, and Killer Joe and the Lido Soul Revue.

7 p.m. - Vocalist Robin Barnes performs funk, jazz and soul at Riverside Park.

There will be hot dogs, soda and prizes. Fireworks are set to begin at 9 p.m. Bring a blanket or chairs.
