In spite of tweet, lawyer says Trump not under investigation

Some Trump supporters, most notably Newt Gingrich, have begun to attack Mueller.

Robert Mueller, the special counsel named by the Justice Department to probe the Russia matter, is investigating whether anyone associated with Trump or his campaign had any illegal dealings with Russian officials or others with ties to the Kremlin.

Over the weekend, Sekulow declared that Trump is not under investigation, after the president condemned the investigation as a "witch hunt" through a series of tweets.

Sekulow responded that Trump's firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey does not amount to obstruction of justice, before sparring with Cuomo over leaks to the press.

"Well, I will tell you about that, sometime in the very near future", Trump sidestepped when a reporter directly asked him, during a Rose Garden news conference, whether the tapes actually exist.

But while Republicans are more critical now of the president's actions related to the investigation, they don't seem to think the investigation itself is such a big deal.

"And if we can't get an answer, then I think we'll ultimately need to subpoena those potential documents to make sure that we have them". Sekulow argued Trump has the authority to fire his subordinates and that he fired FBI Director James Comey on the recommendation of the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General.

This represents just the latest rumors that Donald Trump could face impeachment, as the president's opposition has targeted a number of issues ranging from his unresolved business conflicts of interest to the expanding Russian Federation investigation.

The team from CONCACAF had enjoyed nearly 70 percent of possession against the European champions, but hadn't threatened the goal. The likes of Bernardo Silva and Andre Silva, who were recently bought for huge transfer fees, will be hoping to justify the move.

Sekulow again said Trump is not under investigation, to which Cuomo responded "you don't know whether or not that's true".

The obstruction-of-justice investigation of the president began days after Comey was sacked on May 9, according to people familiar with the matter.

"But you know how it works in Washington", Sekulow continued. "There is not an investigation of the president of the United States, period". The source said investigators have sought information from Richard Ledgett, who recently retired as deputy NSA director and, the source said, had written a memo documenting an attempt from Trump urging Rogers to tamp down on the FBI's Russian Federation investigation.

The source familiar with the Mueller probe told Reuters that Mueller was also examining whether Trump or others tried to interfere with the investigation.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is scheduled to meet with top members of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Our suggestion would be that Mueller decide first whether there is even a shred of evidence to back up the Trump-colluding-with-Russia claim - something that looks increasingly unlikely. Comey's friend who read the memos to the media, Columbia University professor Daniel Richman, gave his copies of the memos to Mueller's probe.

The president has directed some of his frustration at Mr Rosenstein and Mr Mueller. Cuomo countered. "It's not like this White House is averse to making any kind of inquiries about the Russian Federation probe. That's not why I'm asking you about it", Cuomo said.
