Versatility Leads Duke Past Louisville into ACC Tourney SemifinalsBy Kelly Sanders Mar 11, 2017
The Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels will get to run it back one more time in the semifinals of the 2017 ACC Tournament. For the game, the Tar Heels were 10 points better than Duke in Berry's 24 minutes of action, while they were outscored by 20 when Berry was on the bench.
Giles' presence suddenly neutralized the Tar Heel big men that had dominated the entire first half-just 18 of North Carolina's 50 points in the paint and four of senior center Kennedy Meeks' 19 points came after the break.
Frank Jackson hit a 3-pointer at the 9:02 mark to give Duke its first lead of the game.
Isaiah Hicks led the way for UNC, making his first five field goals en route to a team-leading 19 points. And that trend continued Friday, when Jackson's shooting percentage plummeted to 27 percent and he scored 15 points in a 93-83 loss to Duke.
"They beat us badly last time", North Carolina coach Roy Williams said. The Blue Devils are just 7-17-1 against the spread in their last 25 conference games and are 2-5-2 against the number in their last nine games as an underdog despite covering yesterday as a dog.
The win set up a meeting with the rival Tar Heels in the tournament semifinals. And this time, a berth in the ACC Title Game is on the line.
North Carolina is closer to NY than Memphis by 300 miles, and there has been speculation as to which team would be awarded NY, with both Villanova and UNC vying for the overall No. 1 spot.
"I think so, in a way", he said. For four hours the building had come alive nearly entirely thanks to Tar Heels fans cheering for their team and then rooting against the enemy, and Duke fans doing the same.
The Duke coach won't quarrel with the notion this team is much better at defending the three-point shot than the two-point shot.

All he'd have to do was stop an offensive onslaught from North Carolina's dominant post players and find a way to contribute more than the four points and four rebounds he had averaged this season.
Unlike the win against Louisville, where Allen's rebirth from a slump fueled the charge, this game was not won by a single player.
"Harry is coming off of some really bad injuries".
"We talked about playing without fouling, and we took - we talked about getting the ball inside", Williams said. The Blue Devils have a chance to become the first team in ACC tournament history to win the title by winning four games in four days. Notre Dame, as the No. 3 seed, earned a double bye in this tournament and will play just its third game in Brooklyn tomorrow night.
The No. 14 Blue Devils have used a couple of comebacks to reach this stage and they'll match up with No. 22 Notre Dame for the title Saturday night at Barclays Center in NY.
In their first meeting on February 9, Duke topped North Carolina, 86-78, at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
