No. 21 Syracuse women beat Tar Heels in ACC TournamentBy Darlene Powers Mar 05, 2017
Alexis Peterson's 29 points led sixth-seeded Syracuse (21-9, 11-5 Atlantic Coast) to an 83-64 victory over North Carolina Thursday night at the HTC Center in Conway, South Carolina. The two teams played on February 19 and Duke won by 13. Justin Jackson has received most of the accolades for the Tar Heels this season, but Berry proved he's a driving force on this team, too. With his confidence building with every shot he took, the junior point guard made all five of his 3-point attempts in the first half to help his team to a 48-46 lead. He also found success driving through the lane as the Seminoles chose to guard Duke's wing players, usually sharp-shooters Tatum and Luke Kennard.
After minutes of scoreless play, senior Oderah Chidom would break it up with a tough basket inside the paint that would be followed by a Greenwell jumper that extended the Blue Devils' lead to three.
Berry wasn't the only Tar Heel that had to exercise a little patience.
The Duke Blue Devils are going to be a scary team to beat when the NCAA Tournament arrives.
It nearly didn't matter if that team showed up Saturday-"I would hope we're at our best, then-in a week and a half", Krzyzewski said the day before the game-because that team has shown up intermittently only to vanish again.
UFC 209 Woodley vs. Thompson 2
The fourth round saw little output by either fighter. "It's easy to sit in your seats and drink beer and popcorn". With his back to the cage, Woodley remained patient as he deflected Thompson's kicks away.
Leading both teams in points and rebounds at the half was none other than Duke's Brown with nine and six, respectively. After all, UNC's offensive ranks fourth in efficiency (according to KenPom.com) and they are 11th in the country in points per game.
That much was obvious from the tip, when Berry came out with his hair on fire, hitting three 3-pointers in the first 10 minutes and extending his physical defense out to halfcourt.
The end result was the eighth ACC regular season championship for Roy Williams and the Tar Heels since Roy came home.
White had a career-high eight 3-pointers, missing only once from long range. He made 7 of 12 3-pointers that night. "We really did a good job of crashing the boards and getting opportunities, second-chance opportunities and we were really aggressive".
COLLEGE STATION, Texas-De'Aaron Fox scored 19 points to help the Wildcats (26-5, 16-2) claim the SEC regular-season title outright. These guys get beat up by Hopkins, Hopkins gets beat up by Princeton, and we get beat up by these guys.
