LG Launches The LG G6, Their 2017 Flagship

Watch this space for latest on LG G6 and MWC 2017. The phone features a 5.7-inch QuadHD+ resolution (2880 x 1440 pixels) with the FullVision display.

LG is hoping to get out ahead of the crowds with a new top-end phone at MWC 2017.

Another unique display feature: rounded edges rather than corners with traditional right angles. However, we wail have to take a closer look at LG's new flagship before we pass judgement any further. We'd heard rumors for a while now that since Samsung had snapped up all of the new Snapdragon 835 processors that Qualcomm could produce LG would have to rely on old silicon for the G6.

Both devices come with 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 2 TB via microSD card. The phone doesn't feature stereo loudspeakers, though, killing some expectations from consumers.

The LG G6 will have dual-camera setup at the back. The 5MP front camera of LG cover 100-degree FOV. Instead, it has a more regular design, although there are some key features that may help standout LG G6 in a crowded market. The company, however, has an enhanced UX to offer LG G6 users.

LG has also improved its UX to take advantage of the dual camera and 18:9 aspect ratio. With this mode, you take a selfie, and you take a photo of what you're looking at.

LG's putting a huge emphasis on the 18:9 display. There's also a Square Camera function that divides the screen into two squares, one area dedicated as a camera viewfinder, while the other part of the UI can be used as a one-stop shop to edit and upload pictures on social media. The format also includes new standards for projection that maximize the efficiencies of the Univisium format.

The LG G6's FullVision display gives you more to see - and less to hold - on your screen when texting, web browsing and gaming. However, the LG G6's battery is a non-removable one like the modular LG G5.

To keep up and running the G6 has a 3,300mAh battery that aims to offer a day's worth of heavy use.

On the software front, the G6 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and not the latest 7.1.

The LG G6 has a Usb Type-C port and much like the Samsung Galaxy 7, is IP68 water resistant. The U.S. model will get wireless charging but other regions will not.

LG has not stated the pricing details of the phone, but because it will start selling in Korea first, you will have to wait before it makes its way to the US.

The LG G6 comes with Google Assistant. As the Korean company's long-awaited followup to the LG G5 (which, as we all know, didn't do so well), the LG G6 has a lot to make up for. The LG G5 comes in silver, titan, pink and gold. It comes in three colors - white, silver, and black. That means the G6's display is longer than most phones, a decision the company made in unison with Italian filmmaker Vittorio Storaro, who showed up at the launch explaining his vision of a mobile phone with extra widescreen so it can play films the way filmmakers intended.
