HTC launches new flagship smartphone lineup - U Ultra and U Play

HTC had introduced the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play earlier today, the company's new smartphones.

Neither the HTC U Ultra nor the HTC U Play are flagship handsets by 2016 standards - but the price on the higher-end HTC U Ultra will tell you otherwise. The company says it will launch a limited number of HTC U Ultra smartphones with sapphire glass.

The HTC U Ultra (seen above) features a Dual Display, similar to what the LG V20 has.

The more powerful among the two, the HTC U Ultra, sports a 5.7-inch QHD (2560x1440 pixels) display with a secondary 2-inch display (of screen resolution 160x1040) decked on top of it. The second screen serves as notification display and as one showing control capabilities. In terms of the camera set-up, HTC U Ultra is rumored to come fitted with a dual rear camera setup which includes 24MP and 13MP, whereas as far as the selfie camera is concerned, it includes a 16MP.

The HTC U Ultra and U Play both launch on Android 7.0 Nougat with HTC Sense, meaning the software experience will be almost identical. For the HTC U Ultra, this works in conjunction with the secondary display. The U Play houses an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor and 3 GB of RAM.

Both the handsets have 16-megapixel cameras on the front and back, as well has Hi-Fi speakers. It supports full HD 1080p video recording as well. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel front camera with UltraPixel mode.

HTC U Ultra: What's Hot?

Moving away from its signature aluminium unibody design, both handsets sport a glossy, all-glass body which HTC built using an innovative approach it calls Liquid Surface construction, created to give the phones a fabulous reflective look.

U Play packs in a 3000mAh battery and HTC claims that it can deliver up to 26 hours of talk time on 3G or 4G with Quick Charge 3.0 support. MicroSD expansion is available with support up to 2TB and Android's adoptable storage feature. Oddly enough, the U Play will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Sense Companion is "AI-enabled", which means it learns as you use it and gets better in time.

The main camera on the HTC U Ultra is a 12MP UltraPixel unit with 1.55 micron pixel size, PDAF + laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, sapphire protected lens, dual-tone LED flash, and an f/1.8 aperture lens. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and houses 4GB of RAM.

HTC U Ultra is a premium phablet with a 5.7-inch 2560×1440 IPS LCD display. The phone will be available in four colour options - blue, black, white, and pink. It features an extreme power saving mode and fast charging technology. Just as you might assume the frame of the device is the one that's metal, while the front and the rear of the device are adorned with glass elements. Both of these phones feature a home button below the display, which serves as both a home key and a fingerprint scanner.

Packers, Cowboys have long, bitter post-season history
Randall Cobb's return: After missing two games with an ankle injury, Cobb returned to catch three touchdowns vs. the Giants. The Packers, at least for a few games , got healthier at the injury-decimated positions of cornerback and linebacker.
